Biography
Eili Bråstad
Artist and filmmaker
Eili Bråstad is a visual artist, screenwriter and filmmaker from Nordreisa in Troms county. With a background in photography, she studied film and moving images at Nordland College of Art. She works in film, experimental video art, and live visual performance, having her work shown at exhibitions and film festivals in Norway and internationally.
After many years in Berlin as, amongst other things, a VJ on the club scene, she’s now based in Oslo.
As a queer person of both kven and samí heritage, these are recurring topics in her works. She is currently developing new film projects and is taking a Masters degree in visual arts at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO).
In 2022 her queer Samí film Skádja screened at Oslo/Fusion, and is one of this year’s Iris Prize nominees.
