Synopsis
Because of homophobic bullying, Nino and his family leave their hometown and move to the Argentinian countryside. Life in the countryside means strict religious conservatism and shame. Nino must keep his sexuality hidden in a society where his thoughts, feelings and actions are being watched.
A boy disappears in the woods and rumors say Almamula is behind it, a creature who kills those who commit carnal sins. Nino is drawn to the forbidden forest.
Almamula is a coming of age story that captures complex and suppressed feelings, as well as the despair that comes from being rejected by those closest to you.
